In sleeping Ryan's defense, we did wake him up from a deep sleep to make it to the starting line by 7am. :-)
2012 marks our fourth year in a row of running the Keoua Canoe Club's Mac-a-thon! Though our time this year was about 5 minutes faster than last year (still 1-2 minutes slower than our best), we got passed by our friends Karen & Dylan (who were pushing their son Peter). Which
totally ruined our day. I know, right? What total show offs!!! (If Karen thinks I'm going to speak to her at the next PTA meeting, she'd
better think twice.)
And as is family tradition, once we crossed the finish line- we quickly piled back into the car, all red-faced and sweaty to haul okole back up the hill to the Easter festivities at the Kealakekua Ranch Center.

Ry & I with his Easter eggs and beloved octopus balloon...which he named- Twinkly Winkly Hinky. And for the record, we are not allowed to shorten his name to "Twinkly." Or "Twinkly Winkly." It's "Twinkly Winkly Hinky."
The highlight of his day was hands down- the pony rides. Check out the grin on his face every time we looked at him (he got to ride twice). Even before he could sit upright by himself, we've taken him to ride horses 2-3x a year so he's comfortable around them. And I'm kind of excited because my friend Karen (well, my
ex-friend Karen), just told me about an affordable 1-hour ride that we're going to try and take him on. :-)

Since he loves ponies so much, I've decided to buy one. I have $17. Do they cost more than that?
But the day is not over yet. Though little Ryan M. is currently deep in slumber, contentedly slurping away on his wrinkled little thumb...we still have two birthdays tonight. One is at the beach for a friend of Ryan's, and the other is for Mika. So Ryan is gearing up for a fun filled night...and I can't wait to tell everyone about our new pony!!! ;-)
