Fall catch up

We kicked off fall with the return of some of our favorite people, who recently moved back to K-town after a two-year absence (they were an hour away). They used to be our neighbors, and we are thrilled they're a short drive away these days.

Ry continues to practice taiko and learn from the most amazing sensei and older students...they are fortunate to perform a few times a year with the 'big kids.'

We try to spend time with Ry's four cousins that live here as much as we can (life often gets in the way and it doesn't always happen)...here are the littlest two in our neighbor's pool the other day.

Ironman this year was pretty exciting for me. I got to buy some new clothes from Coeur, a brand I've quickly developed a fondness and loyalty to now that I'm rocking a few of their very comfortable race kits.

I was also fortunate enough to be picked to participate in Gatorade's new sweat patch they're rolling out soon. We were part of a pilot group testing it out, and we got some fun Gatorage swag at the end of the 5-mile test run. They had photographers there capturing the day and sent us all photos...which was very generous and kind of them. I had delete 99% of them as I looked 'fat' or 'gross,' but these two made the cut! ;-)

I also went down to watch the race a bit, but mostly so I could run into this police officer and supply him with a cold energy drink.

Rich flew up to CA to surprise his brother, who was commemorating his 50th birthday with a 50k run along the coast. He was able to fly in on a red eye in time to join him for a few final miles and for the weekend.

Ryan got to go fishing with his friend Sei and all his cousins...he caught a few fish that were too small for my nephew to clean/eat. I appreciate their being more of an outdoorsman than him, otherwise he'd rarely leave the sofa.

My mother celebrated #69 this year, and Ryan helped bake her a very special cake, filled with berries and whipping cream he whipped up for her.

And last but not least, we made it out two races of Riki's cross country season this year. He doesn't condition year round, pretty much just a few weeks before the season starts...but he still managed to shave a good amount of his runs last year. This season he's running most of their 5k races in 21:30...which is about three minutes per mile faster than his aunty. :-D

And last but not least, the cousins all came to support Riki on his last race, which wasn't super fun for the littlest ones, so we made sure to include some park time for them after.

Life has been moving fast, as I'm back to working my second job again at the hospital again. We're also still very much engaged in a pretty substantial project that has evolved over the last few month. Originally, it was a prototype investment of a tiny house, and now it's a totally different project, but it's all good stuff and once our plans are more concrete, I'll be sharing more.

Ry has the holiday festivities that kick off this weekend, and I couldn't be more excited. I know Halloween will not be quite as fun as he ages, so I'm glad he's still excited about carving pumpkins, hanging out at a Halloween party and going trick or treating for one more year. Once the fall festivities are over, Ryan has his annual karate tournament, and we're off on our annual fall trip...so this is the time of the year I look forward to most, every year. I LOVE Halloween, as it means it's the start of all of the holiday fun.

I still can't believe I haven't posted our summer trip pics, but I hope to soon!
