The rest of May

Another celebration in the month of May that was pared down due to COVID was Ryan turning 12... We originally had plans for a beach bash with his friends, but since we're still prohibited from large gatherings...it was family over instead!

We borrowed a bouncy from a friend for the youngest two members of the family...

Those two also played dress up with Halloween costumes we scored on sale last year...

Ryan's requested menu? Japanese food! Many varieties of sushi, musubu, gyoza, curry, edamame...and grandma's legendary layered jello!

He got his first 'big' electronic gift from the family that day- a laptop!

We also had a mini froyo bar with toppings for everyone!
Was he mortified? Yes. Did his mother care? Not really.
Earlier in May, I had my brother and his family over to the cottages to hang out...and we did a heinous hike (by accident) through the lava fields that went on, and on...and on...

I also got to bond with a few coworkers on a run/walk together...these rockstars were a huge part of helping to feed over 500 meals a day to our restaurant's ohana islandwide.

My little guy ended up modeling a fundraiser t-shirt on a few social media pages...

This picture made the rounds between our apparel vendor/our restaurants on FB and IG accounts

Our niece Arianna graduated from her preschool! Her mama made us all some ono Hawaiian food for a celebratory dinner! We made her a few lei (well, Aunty Rosie did the floral leis, we did the edibles) and got her a few gifts to celebrate.

We also got to watch her hula show...

Her mom made her a balloon display to honor her preschool graduation!

I also PROUDLY added to my quarantine craziness projects- last month I posted about my new glass containers (below) for meal prepping, but I've since stepped up the JoCD.

I now also have canned good organizers!!! These were not cheap, and were thankfully, assembled by Ryan.

A few years ago, my sister in law got me a few of these Martha Stewart containers from Macy's, and well...I went nuts over the years and kept acquiring more whenever they went on sale. I now have a complete pantry for my baking ingredients. (Now I just need to bake from scratch.)

I think I may have received an orchid or two in my life, but I usually passed them on to my mother to place in front of the pictures of our ancestors. It's to honor them, and to ensure a longer life for the flowers. ;-) However, I have been gifted with FOUR orchids in the last few weeks...it's been awesome! I now have an orchid table on the lanai. They get spritzed daily, watered weekly, and some indirect sunlight each day. All appear happy and gay. I got one as congrats for my new job, another for May Day, one as a thank you, and one for Mothers Day...and I appreciate each one immensely.

We had a little more cottage time with different family members later in the month, and celebrated our #23 together!
Finding opae (shrimp) to catch/release from the tidepools!
Our evening hike took us past ELEVEN turtles. My nieces named each and every one.
23 years together means more than half of my lifetime was with this big boob.
It's been a pretty good ride. More highs than lows, for sure. Definitely lucky.
And last but not least, the men of improv have finally made the move from Zooming to in-person, almost 6-feet apart meeting!

In hindsight, not a bad month considering it was in quarantine. ;-) June is starting to make us crazy though!!!
