November Pre-Trip happenings in pictures

Since we knew we would be leaving in November before my dad's birthday, we planned on throwing him a surprise birthday party while my brother Joey was visiting from Seattle. Sadly, I did not get to participate as I caught a rough cold (my first in 2-3 years) and because my symptoms were COVID like, was self isolating when everyone came over:

The grinds! Sushi galore!

3/5 of the grandkids!

More sushi, teriyaki, tonkatsu...

2/3 of his sons (Jon was working)

Ain't no family party that doesn't include BINGO and everyone chips in to get prizes. Uncle Joey goes a little overboard and one ups everyone!

Thankful for these photos, as a few of us could not participate (my brother Jon was working, and my SIL Lynne was graduating from the Sheriff's academy that week)!!! So proud of her! Now she and her husband are both extensions of the law!!! We have to stay on our toes!

Are birthdays even fun without keiki there to help blow out candles?!
These two make every birthday ten times more fun, that's for damned sure.

Gramps got a foot massager to make up for the massage chair he has that doesn't do such a great job at massaging his feet! He also got a few (haha) COVID Binax tests for himself and my mom.

We also celebrated a bit early with dinner at Kona's most stunning oceanfront restaurant (in my opinion)...Huggos! The ambiance and food cannot be beat...

It was a crazy week before we left on our trip- Joey came over, I flew to Kauai for work, I spent the week out of the office doing open enrollment for benefits all week (so working remotely), and we celebrated my dad's birthday a few times... Needless to say, packing/cleaning was harder than normal, but we pulled it off.

My Kauai digs every time I fly out...so pretty and on the ocean.

Have I mentioned how spoiled I am to work for a restaurant group and to be able to eat out daily? This was my dinner at Lava Lava Beach Club Kauai while I was there! The Executive Sous Chef made it with chicken (for Ms. Picky Pants) instead of fish, just for me! Spoiled!!!

Ryan hosted a poker night (during the day) for a few friends...

I was so sad to miss my nephew Riki's final Cross Country meet while we were gone (we couldn't go prior, as no spectators were allowed). He did very well despite minimal training (he's also in karate and baseball, so he's a busy boy).

My vacuum that my dad bought me 13 years ago finally died. Ryan assembled our new one for me! Very thankful to have a Rich 2.0, as I hate this stuff and would just never vacuum again if I had to assemble one. I will not mention I currently have four robot vacuums, as it sounds obnoxious, but our house is kind of wacky and split up into separate rooms, so to avoid having to move it from room to room, I solved that problem by getting one for each room. Please note that this sounds obnoxious, and it partly is...but we got each one on sale, over 2-3 years. So it wasn't like I waltzed into a store and dropped a grand on vacuums! They are also a brand that is NOT Roomba, so they were not expensive at all.

Ryan is taller than at least two of my brothers, and he's only 13!

I saved the best for last...this is my baby brother, with his wife, who just became a Sheriff. I couldn't be prouder of these two for serving our community and keeping it safer for all. Our little town is blessed to have them and their colleagues looking out for all of us.

What a November to be thankful for...even though I got sick and missed my dad's birthday and Joey's entire visit! Coming soon...our trip!
