Valentines Day is a pretty simple affair around these parts. Neither of us are hugely sentimental about the day, but we always do a few things.
For starters, we had Mom & Sei over to decorate Valentines Day cookies that they baked. This became a two-day affair, because you know...teens can be competitive. ;-)
Then we went to eat a pre-Valentines lunch the next day with Sei and Ryan at Magic's Beach Grill. We might have forgotten to take a picture...because I was hot and sweaty and focused on my pasta. ;-)
We closed the day out with a pre-Valentines dinner with some Chinese takeout from Fireart...again, not exactly a sexy family photo with half of us in pjs. Also, one of us, I shall not mention who, is in the throes of a terrible bacterial infection and scheduled for a root canal in 48 hours... So he could not eat diner with us, as the pain was pretty bad at that point (even with the pain killers/antibiotics).
Our Valentines Day family gift exchange was a final highlight. Sounds so shallow, but c'mon...it's us...so of course, nothing was grand! We did surprise Ryan with a Backbone Controller and a three-month Bokksu subscription though. THAT was pretty ballin'.
My friend Leeanne recently gifted us with a box, and Ryan and Momo enjoyed a series of 'tastings' throughout the day that resulted in 3/4 of the box disappearing in a single afternoon. Pretty cute and hilarious. So as much as he loves it, I did not get him a full-year, as I'm not sure the excitement will last (Ryan doesn't eat much), and it's a pricey gift for an unemployed 13-year old.
So this concludes our 2022 Heart Day celebration...this weekend we have a visiting family member, a departing family member (she became family), and the next few weekends we have a camping trip for Ryan, a friend's housewarming, etc. It'll be pretty busy until March, and then I have to buckle down, as we have a big May coming up with Boys Day, Ryan's birthday and our 25th anniversary. Always a big month of planning and celebration! I have ideas, but just need more time/money. :-) Don't we all?
