We started day back at Harajuku/Shibuya area since Ryan was meeting up with a friend he'd met in Hawaii earlier this year (who was visiting from Japan). Futaba is Ryan's age, and was kind enough to come out and meet us that morning. She and Ryan took off to go hang out, so Rich I were free!
My first stop was to get a massage for my poor feet, which have suffered for about 39 months and counting, from chronic pain (from plantar fasciitis). I had started a new treatment/protocol to try and find relief just before we left, and wanted to maintain some momentum. The massage hurt like hell, but also felt so damned good. And as an unexpected side benefit, I was handed a pair of shorts to wear that looked a lot like something women over 80 would enjoy- a kaleidoscope of pastels, a very comfortable elastic waistband, and the shorts came down past my knees when standing. It was hard to take them home, but Japanese prisons are not easy places.
First we walked around the Omotesando shopping area, and found this gorgeous mirrored structure we'd been in search of. Then we went upstairs to the rooftop garden (meh) before getting bored and deciding to walk back to Meiji Shrine, a place I have been to many times, but is always worth a visit to escape the sounds of the city.
After our temple walk, we decided to go back to the cool Kura Sushi and get before more of our favorites.
And since we could tell from tracking Ryan's iphone that he was 1/2 mile away in Shibuya, we figured we'd head down and check out the shopping district, the Shibuya Scramble and then meet up with Ryan for dinner at a restaurant he'd picked out.
ZAUO was sold out in Shinjuku, so it worked out perfectly that we were in Shibuya and able to walk right in for a first seating. The restaurant has a giant boat you can sit inside to dine it, with fish outside in tanks around it that you can catch for your dinner.
Although we had some initial difficulty in that the fish were not at all interested in our baited fishing poles, Ryan was eventually advised to use just a hook to catch them...and then he caught like 4 immediately.
Once they caught enough for dinner, and they selected how they wanted it cooked, we had our meal served...eggs, edamame...
....the prepared fish in two different ways...
It also came with sushi and vegetable tempura.
It was actually quite fun once Ryan figured out how to catch the fish (which twice landed on the floor), and Rich enjoyed most of my meal and Ryan's, as we are not sushi/fish eaters! He was waddling on the way home, while Ry and I got to get snacks since we were still hungry!
