May was a happy and hectic blur of events...it kicked off with my mom/dad celebrating Mothers Day with another very special beachfront cottage stay at Lava Lava Beach Club. They had overnight guests the first night, which always makes it more enjoyable for all parties...
Days are for paddle boarding and beach coming, and nights are for crab hunting!
We celebrated our 26th anniversary with a quiet, rare night out together at Huggo's, with a waterfront view of the sunset. I waddled home from our mud pie after...so delicious!
My anniversary surprise was a new toilet and bidet...which gives an ominous, but pretty glow at night...
Oh, and even though it's Hawaiian weather...and I grew it in a container...and it was almost an accident...I grew a potato!!! So very exciting. Don't let the hate consume you. It's easy- let your potatoes go to rot in the fridge, throw in out in the compost bin, find it taking root a few weeks later, transfer to a pot of soil, three months later...you get a free potato!
Ryan celebrated turning 15 with a friend this year! He and his BFF Abbi threw a joint party at an escape room with their closest taiko friends! And the food was so ono! Ryan has known Abbi-chan for five years, and she and her family have become our family!

The kids performed at a private event at the Mariott for the first time (they've been to a few other Kohala resorts, but not this one).
My nieces stopped by to help me make breakfast this weekend...
And right after, we headed to taiko practice, which they're currently checking out as beginners!
This picture is of the delicious lunch quality I get to enjoy five days a week. I get the same thing daily- the signature Hook, Linee & Sinker that changes daily at each restaurant I work at. This beurre blanc (sp?) sauce was a party in my mouth.
And this pic was for me to capture so very many things that showcase my excellent parenting...as it is very often the exact opposite of this very rare moment in time- my son has clearly just returned from karate practice, and is doing his online math class (it's 3-hours a day!), while nibbling on avocado, poi and watermelon.
Most moments in time...you will catch him eating chips, on the sofa, looking at his phone. So please, bear with me...and let's pretend I'm a good mom all the time.
My nieces performed two numbers in a showcase of hula performances from all over Polynesia. You can't always see Olivia, but she's there!
I haven't been to a hula show like this in awhile, and it was so well executed. Very enjoyable!
Ryan's friends gathered for a very romantic meal on the sand, at sunset, under the stars the other night at LLBC.
But it's not all fun and play...today they gathered for the annual temple clean up!
Ry & Abbi...twinning in their matching birthday t-shirts from Asia (the person, not the continent).
We have a little over a month before we hit the road for a summer trip...and until then, it's endless events and activities for Mr. Ryan. He has at least three hours of math daily for summer school (with no weekends off, as this is intense!), his usual twice weekly karate classes, three times weekly taiko classes (two as a student, one as a sempai), three times weekly Japanese lessons with his tutor, teaching a few friends Japanese characters twice a week, a math lesson with a tutor and a piano lesson. And this week he and his friends will also go watch a play, and attend a taiko performance/potluck. So he keeps us hopping!
And since our life revolves around all his classes/tutors/events, we don't have much going on other than work, chores and errands. Super enthralling! ;-)
