This was our first real day of respite since we'd started our trip...we all slept in after our late night return (which was actually 11pm). Despite the initial lackluster personality of Siva, he did us good! We crammed in so much with him, that he allowed us to be able to relax...
We had a huge breakfast buffet at the hotel...did laundry...and didn't leave our rooms until after 12:30. We crossed the street to head to a mall I'd found for Ryan (it was touted as one of the nicest/best), but it ended up being a failed mission, as it was just too upscale. The AC was nice, but the luxury brands were not our interest at all...so we pivoted.
We headed back to the room to siesta (it was HOT walking around) for a little bit, then we headed back out on a walk that evening once it was cooler, to the legendary Chinatown markets. It did not disappoint, even though the variety was lacking...it was bustling, packed, filled with aggressive vendors, and kind of fun to wander around.
We all got a few souvenirs, and my mom got customized name keychains for her granddaughters. At one point, while cooling off, my mom had a green tea ice cream bar that she realized midway had wheat in it, so we all hailed a cab and hightailed it back home so she wouldn't feel ill away from the room. She has celiac, and even the tiniest trace amounts can create adominal misery for her.
It was not a long day, but it was a restful one we all craved!
