The positivity march continues (even though it's been tested)! We had a few bumps- a frustratingly long day with poor Ryan spent at a Honda dealership on Wednesday, my suspending a refi that we were literally 24-48 hours away from signing papers on (long story, but the lender made a calculation error that upped the promised payments and, well...homie don't play that game), a lost dog that has devastated three separate parties, a challenging tenant and some lost income.
Thankfully, I've learned that the way you frame and process disappointment is critical to reducing stress and increasing happiness...and it hasn't felt like a rough week
at all. One of the more challenging days was the Honda situation. I found this text/selfie on Ryan's phone after our day at the dealership, which perfectly captured how we spent much of our only free day this week. I have to admit, it made me laugh.

It's a long story, but this is it in a nutshell- due to a recall, we were told they needed our car for 90 minutes. Ry and I showed up with books to read, and a few school activities to do. After two hours, I asked if they were almost done, and told they needed three. After three hours, I was told they needed four and a half. After five hours, I was told they weren't sure how much longer they needed and then flat our refused to give me a better estimate than "I'm not sure, and I can't ask the technicians a hundred yards away for an ETA, and neither can you.' Needless to say, I had a little chat with the service manager about why they had been telling us they needed 'just a little bit more time' for hours and hours when it was clear they hadn't even started the job. The service manager did finally manage to get us out of there about SIX hours after we walked in/and had read every last dog-eared magazine and oil change pamphlet available in the building. But the cherry on top? Honda misplaced our car registration during the process! Arrrgh.
Thankfully, there was far more good than bad this week!
- We officially have a start date on construction of our lanai renovation!
- Ry had a fun week- one day was spent with three others at the movies/arcade, another had us spending the day with friends who live an hour away, and a third had us spending one day at the beach with a few of our friends (that's my second trip this summer...I think I'm setting a record)! Does ANYONE in Hawaii go to the beach as much as we do? I can't imagine so!
- Ryan and Keni went on their first self-fueled trip to town (I ran, they biked)
- We went on our annual trek to the City of Refuge for their Cultural festival, which has become a pilgrimage for us.
- Ry & Keni were able to participate in two nights of board breaking at karate (this is pretty rare), and I think they both enjoyed it a lot!
- I've been getting to spend time with our two older nephews and two younger nieces this summer (it's tough during the school year), and it's the perfect blend. Family first.
- It's been raining every single day recently! This means Ms. Mosquito Magnet has not had to stand in the backyard hand watering her forty corn plants, getting nailed by those soulless blood suckers.
- Keni and I each achieved a separate goal (see pics below)!

| He finally went on his first hunting trip! He has his permit, and a new friend took him out to hunt pigeons (with a nuisance permit) that were eating all the feed at a dairy farm. He also learned how to dress/cook them...so I was proud of him! |

| A friend and I participated in the International Sports Bra Squad Day (which promotes body acceptance). Unnerving, since I tend to cover up like a good Amish girl when I run lest I accidentally soak someone with my excess perspiration as I shuffle by. |
A few more pics of the week...
