Getting ready to jet...

Reasons I haven't had time to blog lately:
  1. Biiiiig, time consuming (though mostly for my dad) weekend home improvement project that has become a weekend + three weekdays home improvement project! And shockingly...this project has more then doubled in price! Gasp! How could that happen?!
  2. I have a 2-year old who likes to put on Mardi Gras necklaces and run around laughing intead of eating his dinner. Cute though, eh?
  3. I made red velvet cuppy cakes with homemade buttercream frosting (first time!) for Rich's coworker's birthday the other day. And it took forever- I had to find a YouTube video just so I could learn how to load a pastry bag! I'm a frosting rookie.
  4. I gots to start cleaning and packin' us up for Oahu! We leave at the crack of dawn tomorrow for four days in Waikiki with friends!
  5. Keni's birthday is coming up soon, so I've been busy ordering cake supplies online, buying his presents, etc. I'm a little worried about whether or not I can pull this cake off...might be too ambitious for me!

Be back soon!!!

Hi Debbie,

Hope you see this- my sister in law always makes it for me and she says it's simple- she buys one of those little green pumpkins with the edible skin (about $10 for a small to mid sized one here), cuts them into cubes, then steams it in shoyu-sugar for about 10-15 min. until soft. And that's it! Best of luck, it's deeelicious! I always see this vegetable in Japanese bentos around the world- so I know it's a popular one!
