How did Ryan know exactly who Woody was even though he's never seen Toy Story?
(Good work, Disney...you evil bastards.) |
We're back. And despite the exhaustion of 2 days of travel and 7 nonstop days of theme park fun, I returned home one giant, happy ray of sunshine. Why? Because everything went well...no ostrich bites (California, 2012), no fisticuffs over lost hotel reservations (Seattle, 2011), no single-handedly using every last vomit bag on the plane (New York, 2010)... :-)
Success!

Yes, I have become that cheeseball that thinks making little kids wear matching shirts each day is adorable. But I am not alone in my awesomeness- at least three grandmas & grandpas per day complimented me on their attire (I'm not ashamed to admit that the 70 & over set have long found me to be irresistible).

I taught the boys how to do a proper Disneyland wave...two listened, the naughty one in the middle didn't.

A late afternoon siesta in my favorite Disney hidey-hole...the adjacent Grand Californian Hotel lobby! There is a dark, cozy room off to the side illuminated only by the light of the fireplace that Ryan caught some daily zzz's in once he'd crashed from Grandpa's never ending flow of cotton candy, churros, caramel popcorn, Haagen Daaz, lollipops and God knows what else.

The boys were unsuccessful in pulling out the sword (we made them kneel on rice later for shaming the family name).

Winding down on rocking chairs while watching cartoons (& sucking on bargain-priced $6 Mickey lollipops) at the Grand Californian...a nightly tradition upon exiting the park each night. We probably just should have stayed there (except that I instead opted to book a family suite at a budget hotel a few blocks away...because that's just the kind of baller that I am).

He saw "Toy Story" twice upstairs, hence his familiarity with Woody...
