Once we all saw the RV, we eagerly checked it out and were thrilled. It had less than 6,500 miles on it, and was in like-new condition. It also meant that everything worked splendidly. Sometimes it's the little things (a powerful flushing toilet, a large working fridge, a warm shower) that make a huge difference.
Joey drove us about 150 miles inland to Sonora (near Yosemite), which took about three hours since we lumbered along at 'top speeds' that annoyed all the semi-trucks that flew by us. ;-) We stayed at the Pinecrest Lake Resort, which was mind blowingly gorgeous. Once there, we quickly set up camp and my parent's prepared an amazing dinner of grilled steak and onions, home fries and a salad (we each took a night to cook dinner).

Our Trip Coordinator (Joey) bought camp chairs, a sleeping bag for Ry, a fancy-fancy gas grill, camp stove and even a hammock for the trip.

This particular Class C motor home could sleep six comfortably. My parents were given the 'bedroom,' Ry and I took the spacious overhead cab and Joey graciously (this is a lie, he whined) took the converted kitchen nook bed. FYI, my bed was so large that even while extending my arms overhead and pointing my toes, I was about a foot shy of teaching either side of the cab.

Breakfast...a cheese omelette, grapes, strawberries, bananas and sausages.

The campground was surrounded by hiking/walking trails. A dream come true for me, but that which I failed to utilize because my previous day's run resulted in a massive blister on my foot the size of an infant's head.

Love this place! They had a small store, restaurant, coffee shop and water equipment rental. They also had a place for us to pump and dump before we left for only $6!

Pinecrest Lake was a 5-minute walk from our campsite.
|
One of the coolest features of the park...trees growing in deep water that you could ride your kayak/raft around, beneath their shadows. Ry loved reclining in his inflatable boat and having me walk/pull him through the shadows of the trees. ;-)

The water so pretty nippy, but so clear and refreshing.

My parents bought Ryan this little raft...

Sipping a mango smoothie and shooting the shaka. Hawaiian style, even in da mountains.
On the second day, Joey, his dog Kona and I went on a hike around the lake and had no idea how much more beautiful it would be.

On our second night Joey grilled pork chops and made fire-roasted baked potatoes with bacon, cheese and onions...
