Okay, I'm going to be honest- despite my post a few weeks ago...I have not done a thang to create new opportunities. Work has been tiring, so by the time the weekend comes, it takes all my energy to just get through piles of laundry, bills, cleaning, errands, exercise and shopping. So I'm A-okay with giving myself a pass on this one. I'm granting myself 'tired working mom' grace.
Planted more succulents. Nothing new, but propagating more. I hope to gift a few for the holidays this year. I feel like most folks would appreciate some adorable greenery to nurture and love this Thanksgiving/Christmas vs more sweets...
I was able to take Ryan and his OG crew out to Waikoloa one day for some shopping, cards, dinner and lawn games. These kids are not only adorably sweet, but his true ride or dies. Fortunately, I *think* and hope they will all be at the same high school, and although there is a great chance they will splinter off into their own activities/peer groups...I am so grateful for the run they've had! Ryan has known Sei since they were too young to talk, and Momo since she was 7.
We spent some time with the family after not seeing them for a few weeks due to potential exposure...and let's just say the 'ol parents have lost not just vision during their old age, but also the ability to look at menu prices! Those two racked up a tab greater than Rich, Ryan, the two girls and I combined! Hahaha! I'm glad they indulged, they deserve it, as they never did it while were kids! And thanks to my amazingly generous employers, it was all a treat for all of us. ;-)
As for the adults, we got to spend a final night with some of our own ride or dies. I have known Leilani since 4th grade...we were in church and school together, and even a year of college before she moved to CA and this crazy cat, Umrao. They visit the Big Island at least 2-3 times a year, since their bougie arses have a place here...so we get to see them on the reg and never, ever fail to laugh hard with them.
Although cases are ever higher here, I don't see it changing anytime soon, other than stabilizing... So with our new reality unlikely to change for a few more years, I do believe we are finally ready to start making travel plans. Our last planned trip was for March of 2020, to Paris and Croatia.
We hope to leave this fall, to a destination that does not involve crowded elevators, subways or indoor dining...just so we can minimize our exposure/risk.
